Reform
was tasked with the design and production of the publication Khusra:
Stains and Stencils by Qasim Riza Shaheen for Shisha the international
agency for contemporary South Asian crafts and visual arts.

“Once
again a stunning
design
solution
from the team at Reform Creative.”
The hardback publication is bound in a fabric textured stock that enhances the
image detail of the artist’s mother’s dress printed on the cover. The word KHUSRA title
utilises a holographic foil block which mirrors the colour and life of
the Khusra
community.
The publication contains two commissioned essays by Professor Salima Hashmi,
Dean of the School of Visual Arts at Beaconhouse National University, Lahore,
Pakistan and Dr. Ananya Jahanara Kabir, Lecturer in Postcolonial Literature at
the University of Leeds and a commentary by Neil Bartlett OBE, theatre artist,
director, translator and writer.
It was accompanied by an exhibition held at Castlefield Gallery, Manchester.
The Exhibition is Shaheen’s first gallery based, solo show and is the culmination
of an extensive, two year period of research and relationship building with the
Khusra community in Lahore, Pakistan. The work utilises but is not defined by
various visual media such as photography, video installation and performance. |
