Reform goes Hip 10 February 20010

Reform has been tasked with the branding of garden design practice, HipHab.

Nick Heaton, Creative Director at HipHab. comments,
“HipHab are biased towards garden architecture and not just the horticultural side of the industry. The design challenge was to produce a mark that says what we do but I didn’t want the cliché graphic elements usually associated with garden design such as floral patterns or botanical objects. We are a contemporary garden architect business not just horticulturists. Reform really listened to what we wanted to achieve, and helped us focus our values.

The resulting design was fantastic and hit all the notes we required. It has made me really excited about the launch of the new business and Reform really did take all the worry and stress away from me. It just emphasises the understanding of employing the correct expert for a certain job.”

HipHab branding will roll out in August 2010 with a new website launch.

Designer, Selina Yuk Tzang Pan, talks about her idea for the HipHab brand
“I was on work placement with Reform so getting to work on a live brief was fantastic for me. I worked along side Paul Heaton, Creative Director, on the HipHab branding but he pretty much let me do what I wanted. I have a real love of typography so, for me, it made complete sense to produce a typographical answer to the brief, which moved away from the usual. I carefully crafted characters out of elements from one of HipHab’s hand drawn plans. The trick was to make sure the positive and negative balance in the characters was perfect and that the type would work at all sizes without the loss of legibility.

I enjoyed the creative challenge and can’t wait to see the brand produced and working.”
