African Hip Hop Reforms 15 September 2009 African Hip Hop Gospel artist Jeff Ukiri aka EJOVI approached Reform for their help in positioning him as a leading Hip Hop Gospel artist. EJOVI is a Manchester based artist with links to the African music scene, from the Niger-Delta of Nigeria his music has earned him platinum selling status allowing him to be ranked among the mainstream artists in his genre.
His new album ‘DO MY OWN’, aimed at motivating and inspiring those who have lost hope in life and assuring them of a better life in God, is gradually becoming a hit. The tracks on ‘DO MY OWN’, appeal to the emotions. They benefit any occasion, because his music is being celebrated across the world by bringing tribes, races and colour together. The solemnity of the music is soothing as the melodies and rhythms go deep into the soul. This new album sees interesting collaborative efforts from Nigerian reggae artist Rymzo and Hip Hop/Rap group (Educated Thugs). Unusual as it may seem, working with artists outside his genre, his collaborative efforts on this project add to his musical appeal. Reform has created three brands for Jeff Ekiria including the EJOVI brand itself. Secondly an identity for ‘Restore Hope Foundation’ which is an institute focused on reaching out to individuals who’s circumstances have rendered them hopeless, destitute and hampered their ego. The third brand is ‘Afrobliss’ a record label dealing predominately with people of African origin. Following the branding exercise Reform have designed EJOVI’s album cover for ‘DO MY OWN’ along with other marketing and promotional elements. The influence for the design come from contemporary street art blended with an essence of African Hip Hop. EJOVI will soon be travelling to Africa to promote his album.
